ULTIM8 WYP - Ultimate Spatula for Resin
Product Details
The ULTIM8 WYP is designed to be one of your go-to tools for resin printing. With a solid, ergonomic handle made from co-injected polypropylene, this tool is robust and resistant to both resin and IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol). It comes with three high-grade silicone blades, each suited for different tasks:
Perforated Blade: Features vertical slots to mix resin that has been sitting in the vat for extended periods to avoid print defects.
Long Blade: Ideal for general cleanup and wiping down the vat safely without causing damage to the FEP and vat.
Short Blade: Perfect for tight spaces and designed to work with our 3D-printable basket to filter resin for debris that can cause print defects.
All ULTIM8 WYP parts are resistant to resin and IPA, making clean-up simple. You can soak the tool in IPA after use, then dry and wipe it down when ready for the next project.

If your resin has been sitting in the vat for more than 12 hours, it is critical to mix it thoroughly before initiating the printing process. Over time, resin components tend to separate based on their densities, which can lead to print defects or complete failures.
Follow these steps for the best results mixing:- Position the build plate: raise the build plate to its uppermost position on the Z-axis.
- Mixing with the ULTIM8 WYP Blade: using the ULTIM8 WYP equipped with a silicone Mixing Blade, methodically wipe the resin in the vat. Perform slow, deliberate strokes, applying enough downward pressure to ensure the blade contacts the FEP film at the vat’s bottom. This will help mix any resin that has settled and ensure uniformity throughout the entire volume.
- Avoid Over-Spill: mix at a controlled speed to prevent creating waves that may cause the resin to overflow from the vat.
- Resin Quality Check: while mixing, observe for any solidified resin pieces. If detection occurs, it's advisable to halt operations and clean both the FEP and VAT. Alternatively, transfer the resin into an external container using a fine filter and funnel, such as our ULTIM8 FUN, to eliminate any contaminants.
Proper resin mixing is essential for maintaining print quality and preventing issues related to separation or contamination.
Follow these steps for the best results when cleaning:
- Remove resin vat.
- Initial Wipe: start by using the long silicone blade to remove excess resin from the vat. The flexible design allows you to cover larger areas quickly while preventing scratches on sensitive surfaces.
- Edge Cleanup: use the blade to wipe around the edges and corners of the vat, ensuring all resin is cleared without damaging the FEP film.
- Surface Wipe: gently wipe down the FEP film, applying minimal pressure. The silicone material ensures a smooth and safe cleaning process, avoiding damage to the film.
- Final Pass: perform a final wipe to ensure no residue is left behind, leaving your vat ready for the next use.
The Long Blade's durable silicone construction is designed for frequent use, providing consistent results for general cleanup and spatula work.
The Short Blade is an ideal solution for filtration tasks in confined spaces. For enhanced functionality, pair it with our free 3D-printable basket to efficiently filter resin directly within the vat.
Follow these steps for the best results:- Install the 3D-printed basket inside the Tool (optional)
- Position the ULTIM8 WYP tool, equipped with the Short Blade, near the vat’s edge.
- Gently drag the silicone blade along the FEP film, keeping the WYP angled so that resin flows over the blade and into the basket.
- Periodically inspect the basket to ensure debris is collected.
Clean Up:
Clean up is easy as all parts are very resistant to resin components and IPA, so it is possible to leave all sitting in IPA to clean after use until ready to dry off and wipe down.
Super cool. The filter basket is 3D printed have to download the file.
Thanks! The filter basket is a printable file and can be found here: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/tool/ultim8-wyp-basket
The handle is good to hold and the silicone wedge is perfect to help remix resin and help wipe the vat clean.
Makes stirring resin in vat simple. Cleans FEP without issue and no damage. Performs as expected.
