Steps for Use:
- Raise your build plate toward the top of the Z-axis.
- If your resin has been sitting for more than a few days, mix it thoroughly to prevent separation, which can lead to incurable areas. Use a soft silicone spatula, such as Wham Bam’s ULTIM8 WYP, to gently stir the resin in the vat, ensuring a homogeneous solution. While mixing, check for any hardened pieces in the vat; if found, carefully remove and dispose of them.
- Place your ULTIM8 VAT base down toward the corner of your vat, it should be positioned in such a way that 75-80% of the tool overlays the screen and the rest overlays the border such that it provides a great corner peel.
- Use a light pressure down while swirling slightly the ULTIM8 VAT to ensure the bottom releases and makes contact with the FEP.
- Use your machine control panel to find the screen clean function and activate it.
- Hold down the ULTIM8 VAT while the cleaning cycle is active.
- When the cleaning function is finished, use a piece of cardboard or tray as a drip catcher while lifting upward in a prying motion on the handles of the ULTIM8 VAT to lift a cured flat layer of resin out of the vat. Allow the excess resin to drip off. Frequently, you can find ways of hanging the ULTIM8 VAT by the handle on your build plate holder, or download our free drip holder.
- When done dripping, remove the whole tool and resin. Peel the cured resin off of the ULTIM8 VAT. Dispose of the cured resin and drop your ULTIM8 VAT in some IPA for a final clean.
- If you have any resin remaining in the bottom grooves, leave the ULTIM8 VAT in IPA overnight and the remnants will drop right out.
- You are ready to print!
Note: If you observe significant chunks or other particles remaining in your resin, it's advisable to remove the vat, strain it using a funnel and strainer like our ULTIM8 FUN, and thoroughly clean your equipment.
This works exactly as stated. It makes a vat clean much easier without the need to drain the vat. Definitely recommend.
